Recently, following financial crises in the global world, the focus of attention has been moved towards how a company is being managed. This study examined the effect of corporate governance on investment decisions of shareholders of listed banks in the Nigerian capital market from 2005 to 2015. The study adopted the secondary method of acquiring data which was sourced from financial statements of eight banks listed. Panel Regression Analysis was employed in the analysis of the data collected with the use of electronic views. The results revealed that there exists a positive and significant relationship between corporate governance (board size, board independence and audit committee independence) and investment decisions of shareholders. Consequently, it is recommended that to further provide effective corporate governance measures, strengthening of corporate governance and accounting standards in Nigeria would go a long way in promoting investors’ confidence and thereby create positive investing decision.

As a socioeconomic index, inequality in distribution of income and wealth is considered as a marginally sensitive political variable that is simultaneously highly prone to being affected by political structures. On this basis, the recent process of democratization has yielded in occurrence of a series of economic evolutions among which, the most disputed one is redistribution of income and inequality of the former and wealth. The objective of the present research is to investigate and compare the relation between democracy and distribution of income in a selection of member countries of OECD and those of The Islamic Conference between 2001 and 2014. The econometric method used in this research is panel data regression. Results indicate that democracy has a significant impact on GINI coefficient among member countries of OECD and The Islamic Conference. In terms of reduction GINI coefficient, democracy has a greater impact on member countries of OECD compared to those of The Islamic Conference. This shows that compared to member countries of The Islamic Conference, member countries of OECD are more sensitive to democracy. In other words in such societies the right for having a voice expands to the lower classes and economic decision makings are removed from the mere dominance of the few wealthy. In this case, the voters are those who belong to classes of lower incomes and respectively, the tax rate that determines the amount of redistribution and is obtained through polling, increases and resultantly redistribution increases. This is followed by improved living conditions among the poor and the needy people.

The present study explores the mechanism of trade effects despite the foreign exchange fluctuations and oil shocks on women's job opportunities in the periods of the recession and prosperity in the country using the Markov-switching Regime ARCH Model during 1984-2016. According to the results of the model estimation, Commercial freedom has a negative impact on women's job opportunities during the recession, which means that government spending in this period is mostly spent on imports. Foreign exchange rate fluctuations have a negative impact on women's job opportunities during the recession and with negative oil shocks, foreign exchange earnings are declined, and government spending is dedicated to import to cope up with inflation and this leads to the reduction of job opportunities and women’s employment. This has led to reduced job opportunities and reduced employment for women. Also, the impact of international trade variables, economic growth rate and positive oil shock on women's employment during the prosperity period is significant, which means that in a country with high trade openness, women's employment will also improve and there will be more job opportunities for women, which can help the country's employment. Therefore, government and private support for women's employment, self-employment, women's entrepreneurship and international trade opportunities can be a positive driver of women's employment growth.

While the number of entrepreneurship education programs is growing, the use of new technologies like IT and web based platforms can be the drivers and promoters of the efficiency of the entrepreneurship programs. This study aims to investigate the impact of IT-based entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention. For this reason, after the literature review of the topic, a quasi-experimental, ex-ante/ex-post, control group, longitudinal, repeated measures research design was implemented with total of 124 matched pairs among university students who are participated in IT-based entrepreneurship education program. The theory of planned behavior was utilized as the underlying theoretical model. The findings show an insignificant impact of IT-based education on entrepreneurial intention. This insignificant impact was not moderated by the length of IT-based entrepreneurship education. However, those who were self-employed at the beginning, at the end of the entrepreneurship program had showed significantly higher entrepreneurial intention compared to those who are not self-employed. IT-based Entrepreneurship Education is one the major sources of inspirational triggers that positively impact on entrepreneurial intention. Using new approaches like web based or IT-based approaches for entrepreneurship education can enhance and increase the efficiency and innovativeness of these types of programs.

The present study investigates the relationship between accounting conservatism and earnings management using Benford's Law. In this study, the quantitative index of conservatism (cscore) by Khan & Watts (2009) was considered as the accounting conservatism. Target sample includes 363 listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange during 1999-2015. Divergence between the actual earning and loss frequencies and Benford' distribution has been taken into account. Chi-square and Z-statistic tests, regards to degrees of conservatism were applied. The results revealed that in companies with low or high levels of conservatism, distribution of earning and lose first to fourth digits follow Benford's law. However the distribution of first and second digits of earning, and first to fourth digits of losses differ from the expected distribution when there is an increase in conservatism. Divergence between the third and fourth digits and expected distribution reduced, when conservatism increases.

Insurance has always been an efficient tool in facilitating production and increasing investment through the world. Meanwhile, lack of investment has been a constant problem in the agricultural sector, as one of the most vulnerable economic sectors. Hence, insurance, as an effective tool for securing the return on investment, is likely to solve this problem. The current research is aimed at identifying and analyzing the role of insurance in risk management of modern agribusinesses. In order to fulfil the research objective, a mixed method research was designed and qualitative and quantitative tools were developed. In the qualitative part, the research population includes the experts of agriculture and investment in new businesses, while the population of the quantitative part is composed of greenhouse owners in Tehran province. 9 interviews were carried out in the qualitative part and data were analyzed through open and axial coding. In addition, 137 questionnaires were investigated in the quantitative part. Quantitative data were analyzed by structural equation modelling method. The results demonstrate that various types of risk, including production, market, and environmental risks have a negative effect on the insurance rate, In other words, insurance coverage decreases when risk increases, which is a rational result. Moreover, insurance has a positive effect on investment promotion and can offset the negative effect of risk and lead to an increase in investment and hence, establishment of new businesses in this field.

Capital structure discusses the composition of company financing sources including short-term debts, bonds, long-term debt, preferred stock, and common stock. Some firms define no predetermined plan for capital structure; rather, the capital structure is determined respecting to financial decisions taken by financial management lacking any specific plan. Despite these firms may succeed in short-term, finally they face major problems for required financing activities. The main objective of the present research is to study the relationship between ownership structure and debt cost focusing on the role of financial crisis in companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange within 2011-2015 (a five-year period). The results show that there is no significant relationship between the type of ownership and debt cost; in addition, financial crisis may not mediate the relationship between ownership and debt cost. On the other hand, the results also indicate that there is no significant relationship between the proportion of institutional owners and debt cost; further, financial crisis shows no mediating role.

Ongoing research on the uncertainties surrounding Brexit as a form of regional disintegration is a teeming challenge for many of the industries in the United Kingdom, and as such, various researches are being undergone by experts in different fields to analyse the potential effects both positive and negative on the various industries. This research, therefore, aimed to focus mainly on the effect of regional disintegration on industry performance with emphasis on Brexit. The research considers the financial services and insurance industry in the United Kingdom as a case study. To consider the potential effect of regional disintegration, the research examined a 5-year quarterly data trend analysis spanning from 2014 till 2018 which represents two years before and two years after the pronouncement of the referendum in June 2016. The study further adopted a deductive approach while using both quantitative and qualitative research strategies. The data collection method involved the use of secondary data gotten from government reports and statistical bulletins. The variables were grouped into three categories including the macroeconomic factors (inflation, exchange rate and interest rate), trade performance (imports, exports and industry consumer price index), and demand and supply of labour (employment levels). The data analysis was conducted using a t-test statistic to ascertain if there is any significant difference in the population means of the variables. The findings revealed that the macroeconomic factors have more significant adverse effects on the industry's performance, while there are both positive and negative effects of regional integration on trade performance. Lastly, a no-deal outcome is likely to pose a significant threat to the industry’s demand and supply of labour. In general, the findings of the research allude to the fact that regional disintegration has both positive and negative effects on industry performance. Some recommendations were provided based on a no-deal or deal outcome.

In the recent years, the multi-level programming problems specially the bi-level and tri-level programming problems (TLPP) are interested by many researchers and these problems, particularly TLPP, are known as an appropriate tool to solve the real problems in several areas of optimization such as economic, traffic, finance, management, transportation, computer science and so on. Also, it has been proven that the general bi-level and TLPP are NP-hard problems. The literature shows it has been proposed a few attempts for solving using TLPP. In this paper, we attempt to propose a new function for smoothing the tri-level programming problem after using Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition, also we develop two effective approaches, one based on Genetic algorithm, which it is an approximate approach, and the other based on the hybrid algorithm by combining the proposed method based on penalty function and the line search algorithm for solving the linear TLPP. In both of these approaches, by using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition the TLPP is converted to a non-smooth single problem, and then it is smoothed by proposed functions. Finally, the smoothed problem is solved using both of the proposed approaches. The presented approaches achieve an efficient and feasible solution in an appropriate time which has been evaluated by comparing to references and test problems.

Human Resource (HR) is most crucial, very important and sensitive factor used as an input for production. This factor was overlooked earlier for accounting purposes due to the availability of excess and unorganised manpower and relatively low cost. But after liberalization of Indian economy (in 1991) the importance of human resources were recognised. Although a little interest has been shown by professional accountancy bodies, like ICAI, ICSI and ICMAI on Human Resource Accounting (HRA) in Indian the importance is now given on HRA by public sector undertakings that have made pioneering attempts by disclosing Human Resource Values in their published annual reports. Similarly the other private companies are also disclosing the HR values in their financial statements. This paper seeks to present brief description of Concepts of HRA, analyse the disclosure in 5 major companies in India. The study also analyses the difference between the HRV, and to establish the relationship between Profitability and HRV with other predictor values like Net worth, Sales and EPS. By using ANOVA, Tukey post Hoc Test and multiple regression it was found that HRV and Sales are the predictor of Profitability in selected companies in India.
