The purpose of the present research is to study the effect of foreign direct investment on employment in tourism. In this regard, the effect of foreign direct investment as well as gross domestic production (GDP), tax rate, and globalization index as explanatory variables are studied on tourism employment as dependent variable using panel data econometrics through statistical data of 48 selected countries including Iran within 2009-2013. The results indicate that foreign direct investment negatively influences employment in tourism among the selected countries. Regarding tourism as a user sector and since foreign direct investment is associated with technology transfer and as many labor services may not be substituted by technology, attracting foreign investment is less than other sectors. Therefore, the professions are created by foreign investment in more attracting industries. Thus, it concluded that foreign direct investment attracts tourism sector workforce and reduces employment through creating professions in other economic sectors. It can be stated that this significant effect is maintained. Moreover, the effect of GDP and tax rate is positive; whereas, the globalization index variable is negative, which is consistent with the experimental results of previous studies.

The term "Customer Relationship Management" occupied a major place in recent studies in the field of sport because of the important role it appears to play in business competitions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of Denison's model of organizational culture on customer relationship management in ministryof sports and youth in Iran. Data on organizational culture, dimensions of organizational culture (involvement, consistency, adaptability, and mission) and customer relationship management were gathered through two questionnaires that have been distributed among the employees of the department. Data analysis was performed using SPSS and Amos software. The analysis of the findings revealed that involvement (β=0.54) and consistency (β=0.22) had the highest and the least impact on organizational culture, respectively. On the other hand, the positive and significant effect of moderating role of organizational culture on customer relationship management was 99%. Therefore, it was concluded that organizational culture improves the overall performance of an organization and customer relationship management can be helpful to organize the existing customers based on their priority to the organization. Based on the findings, it is suggested that officials and administrators of the sports and youth departments should give their employees freedom to accept and perform their responsibilities. They are also supposed to set up standards of desirable performance in the organization, pay attention to the coordination of activities, and accept mistakes and consider them as opportunities for learning and acquiring skills.

In this article, we provide an in-depth study of the link between global commodity prices and the shocks market. Many Middle East countries are exports dependent and rely heavily on the global price of their primary commodities to make rational economic decisions. It is against this background that this study investigates the level of interdependence between global commodities prices and stock market returns in selected Middle East countries. For this empirical investigation, the two largest stock markets were selected based on market capitalization namely Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) and Saudi Stock Exchange, TADAWUL (TASI). Specifically, we examined the relationship between global commodities prices and stock market returns and the direction of causality between the variables following Eagle Granger causality procedures. In addition, we determined the effect of global commodities` price movement on stock market returns using the ARDL estimation technique. The results of our analyses show that there is a significant long-run relationship between global commodities prices and stock market returns. Also, there exists a largely bidirectional causal relationship between global commodities prices and stock market returns in the two markets. Furthermore, the results of ARDL estimation reveal that global commodities prices have short-run and long-run effects on stock market returns in the two markets. These findings are robust to a battery of robustness checks. These results support the investor's decision-making process. In addition, the results of this survey are important for policymakers to strengthen the stock market to drive economic growth.

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between supervisor support and job performance among nurses. On the basis of self-reported data from 718 Staff Nurses in Malaysia’s public hospitals, this study found that there is no significant relationship between supervisor support and job performance. This finding indicates that the supervisors were not able to provide the necessary support they need and indicates that the support given to each staff may seem not to work well with many staff. Thus, health care institutions must play a better role in coordinating and providing training for nursing supervisors in order for them to give their subordinates great support.

Researches have shown workplace Sexual Harassment (SH) as indeed a source of stress at workplaces. If he or she is a victim of SH, he or she is not the only one. Everyone has the rights to voice out, as we have our human rights. The purpose of this paper is to create an awareness of SH in workplaces due to its impact on each victim’s health, psychologically and physically. Most of the victims keep it as secret in order to avoid embarrassment. Yet, these embarrassments then lead to a higher percentage of workplace sexual harassment. This paper has reviewed a total of 25 journal articles, regarding the percentage of workplace SH victims, the society’s stance on it, the characteristics of victims, the criterion to judge Sexual Harassment, the influences of SH perceptions, the influences for the intention of SH intervention, the consequences of SH on victims and the effects of implementing training and policies. In some employers’ point of view, the contribution of training and policies to prevent workplace Sexual Harassment incidents are small. Yet, these small contributions on the other hand create a domino effect in long term view and are better than no action taken. Therefore, companies should implement training and policies as one of the strategies to protect employees from experiencing SH incidents as well as to uphold the company’s reputation.

This study proposes a research framework of the relationship between social media orientation (SMO) and SME export performance. This framework developed based on extensive literature. There are very few studies have looked into the relationship between SMO and SME export performance, especially in the context of developing countries. Furthermore, literature failed to find the consistency in the relationship between SMO and SME performance, which motivated for future studies to corroborate the relationship between SMO and SME performance specially in context of foreign markets. This study delivers useful information and adds knowledge of the literature pointing to increase their business performance specially export business performance. Future studies should validate empirically the proposed research framework.

This study explored the relationship between Intellectual Capital Management and Career Development of Female Managers in Private sector Anambra State, Nigeria. Correlation survey design was used to test the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The total population of study comprised of 120 female staff of the selected private sector (First Bank, United Bank for Africa, Access Bank and Fidelity Bank). The target population of the study comprised of lower and middle level female managers of the selected organizations. The hypotheses were tested and analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The results showed that, there exists a significant negative relationship between Intellectual Capital variable (employee knowledge) and Career Development (gender stereotyping) of female managers. It is therefore, recommended that organizations need to introduce diversity gender programme to educate employees about the dangers of work place discrimination and importance of accommodating people from different background (gender and race). We, advocate that human resources’ managers need to introduce family support programmes to help women with family responsibilities balance between work and family matters.

The aim of this study is to investigate the influencing factor on consumers’ intentions towards purchasing Islamic hotel service. It also investigates the moderating influence of religiosity on these relationships. Data collected using the survey method and 200 usable questionnaires were received from respondents. Regression analysis was conducted to test the hypothesis. The results show a positive and significant relationship between halal awareness, norms and attitude. It also shows that there are non-significant relationships between brand image and price and consumers ‘intentions toward purchasing Islamic hotel service. The study indicates that religiosity has a moderating effect on the relationships between the factors (halal awareness and subjective norms) and consumers’ intentions towards purchasing Islamic hotel service. By understanding the relationship among the constructs in the research model, hotel managers could improve consumer intention. They can focus on the halal awareness, subjective norm and religiosity in their marketing activities.

We explored the impacts of banking system stability on sustainable development for the period 2000-2016 as well pre and post-global financial crisis periods. We employed econometric frameworks of dynamic fixed effects, system GMM and most recent estimator - panel quantile regression with fixed effects to provide robust results from the conditional mean-based and parameter heterogeneity approaches. Our results revealed that, conditioning on other sustainable development determinants, banking system stability have significant impacts on sustainable development as well as empirical evidence of parameter heterogeneity response of sustainable development for countries conditionally distributed on low and high sustainable development path for both short-run and long-run. In addition, we established that, countries distributed on low sustainable development paths gain more from bank stabilization policies compared to countries on middle and higher sustainable development paths. Finally, we established vanishing adverse effects of banking system stability on sustainable development in the post-global financial crisis period.

The attempt in this study has been to detect the influence of foreign exchange reserves on import demand in Nigeria. With data spanning from 2000 to 2020, we estimated the long-run and short-run import demand function using ‘fully modified ordinary least squares’ and ‘error correction model’ respectively after we established that our variables were integrated of the first order and that cointegration exists. The long-run import demand function pointed out that the effect of foreign exchange reserves on import demand is positive but insignificant but such effect turned negative and significant in the short-run. Import price was also noted to put forth a negative sway on import demand with its effect being significant. Income was observed to wield a positive long-run influence on import demand while the effect of exchange rate was positive and significant in the long-run but became negative and significant in the short-run. By the elasticity coefficients, income elasticity put forth a greater influence on import demand compared to every other variable with the coefficient being greater than unity. It therefore becomes pertinent for actions toward reducing the income coefficient to less than or equal to one to be instituted. It is critical that import demand management be regarded as an aspect of an inclusive stabilization strategy. Imports should be targeted as part of this effort to compensate for shortfalls in domestic production. Furthermore, strategies that reduce government spending or raise taxes (contractionary fiscal policy) could reduce income growth which is a chief driver of import demand.

The empirical results confirm that there was no significant impact of daily increased number of COVID-19 positive cases to the stock returns of BFIs in Nepal throughout the entire study period. Furthermore, this study inquires the influence of pandemic period to the individual class of the BFIs sector in NEPSE[1]. It discloses that the commercial banks, development banks and microfinance companies’ stock returns were adversely impacted during the pre-lockdown and lockdown period. However, after-lockdown period had significantly rebounded the overall BFIs stock returns in Nepal with the highest returns earned by microfinance companies and lowest return by commercial banks. This paper examines the impact of different categories of foreign capital inflows (FDI, Portfolio investment, and other investment) on domestic savings in 6 ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, and Lao PDR. The study is conducted for two periods: 1990-2015, and 2000-2015 based on regression analyses utilizing Panel and Cross-section data of the selected ASEAN countries. The results show that foreign capital inflows at aggregate level displaces domestic savings. Of all categories of foreign capital inflows, only FDI has significantly positive impact on gross domestic savings rate in the two periods while short-term capital flows such as portfolio investment and other investment are not found to have any significant impact on domestic savings in the studied periods, and short-term capital flows show the increase in its volatile nature which is vulnerable to sustainable economic development. The results indicate the importance of trade liberalization, domestic financial development, and domestic investment to enhance domestic savings.

The research includes review of key concepts, theories and existing empirical research to outline key competencies that creates impact to business success. This research adopts positivism paradigm with deductive approach using explanatory research design. The research also adopted non-probability sampling focusing IT middle management in Malaysia group from multiple sectors with a sample size of 147 to examine the impact of defined competency on business success. The research findings outline Business Knowledge and Market Awareness as the most appropriate and have significant core competencies for IT professional to achieve business success. Overall research with the support of literature study, existing published empirical research using underlining theories and data analysis of the research evidently prove Business Knowledge and Market Awareness competency should be focused in the Malaysian IT context. Conversely Leadership and Entrepreneurship competency derives low significant impact against business success whereby researcher has justified the cultural and racial differences are one of the reasons of the negative correlation using relevant studies in Malaysian context. Researcher also suggested Leadership and Entrepreneurship requires awareness in Malaysia to address the globalization in future. This research finding contributes Malaysian organization to address the gaps and fuel up IT department competency model to increase IT productivity which relatively increases overall business productivity to promptly address aggressive business competition.

This study examines the influence of exchange rate volatility on foreign direct investment flows to the Nigeria economy. The study employs the ARCH, GARCH and EC models to analyze time series data for the period 1970 to 2016. The study established the stationarity of the data series and carried out the cointegration tests. The result of the study reveals that exchange rate volatility tends to persist throughout the study period. The findings of the study established empirical evidence to support the views that exchange rate volatility has a negative and significant influence on foreign direct investment inflows to Nigeria. The study demonstrates that increase in inflation exerts a negative effect on foreign direct investment inflows to Nigeria. The results of the analysis revealed that trade openness and interest rate have a positive influence on FDI in Nigeria. Thus, it is important for the government to muster the political will with efforts to create a stable environment to boost domestic production of export commodities and investment inflows. In addition, it is imperative for the government through its regulatory agencies to pursue a sound exchange rate regime with good policies and programs that would encourage investments in the economy.

Financial development has recently been captured the attention of researchers as in important element of economic prosperity. As foreign direct investment can have an important role in the economic achievements, this study investigates the role of financial development in attracting FDIs. Unlike earlier studies, it considers the most comprehensive proxy of financial development which overcomes the shortcomings due to ignorance of many economic components by earlier researchers. In this connection, this study uses panel of 39 countries from One Belt One Road (OBOR) economies. The empirical findings provide evidence in favor of financial sector reforms so as to benefit from foreign investment. The results are robust to the alternative measures of financial deepening under instrumental variable estimation. Therefore, the research specifically suggests countries to concentrate on developing their financial systems. Proper policy formulation can be done to reconstruct the weaker systems and to ensure wider and safer public access to the financial systems.
